Hi, my name is Lisa Vanya. I teach 8th grade science. I have taught for 18 years. My husband is a teacher/coach at Kirbyville High School. We have two sons which attend KHS. I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, and watching HGTV.

I am very excited about teaching 8th grade science this year. We are incorporating a new curriculum this year called C-Scope. It is a widely used instructional program designed to meet our state standards, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). During the lessons, students have many opportunities to work with their peers to solve common problems and develop explanations for observations. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explain observations in their own words, and apply ideas to new situations. This is an important year of science for the students. The objectives the students learn from their 6th - 8th grade years of science will be tested on the Science TAKS test during the Spring semester.
