Computer Literacy was state mandated in the 1980's. The need at the time was to introduce students to basic computer concepts and skills. Computer literacy was required at that time. Computer Literacy is now an elective course for eighth grade students.
The course has evolved over the last 20 years in an attempt to address the needs of todays student. Students are to demonstrate knowledge and appropriate use of hardware components, software programs, and their connections. They use data input skills appropriate to the task. Students use a variety of strategies to acquire information from electronic resources. They fromat digital information for appropriate and effective communications. Students must deliver the infromation electronically in a variety of media. |
